304L (S30403) belongs to the American standard austenitic stainless steel, the implementation standard: ASTM A276-2017
304L (S30403) is a variant of the lower carbon 304 stainless steel for use in welding situations. The lower carbon content minimizes the carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone near the weld, which may lead to intergranular corrosion (welding erosion) of stainless steel in some environments.
304 and 304L are austenitic stainless steel, the only difference is that the carbon content of 304L is reduced to below 0.03%, which is in order to improve the welding performance of stainless steel materials. 304L is much more expensive than 304.
