The strength of alloy steel in annealed state is not much higher than that of carbon steel, but in normalizing state, the strength of alloy steel is significantly higher than that of carbon steel. The strengthening effect of alloy steel is the most obvious after tempering treatment.
The hardenability of alloy steel mainly depends on the carbon content, which is slightly higher than that of carbon steel with the same carbon content, but the hardenability and tempering stability of alloy steel are obviously improved. Therefore, alloy steel is suitable for stainless steel engineering requiring thicker hardening layer, or steel parts with higher strength, hardness, plasticity and toughness. And alloy steel quenching cooling rate is slower than carbon steel, not easy to deformation and cracking, the shape of complex or small deformation requirements of the parts are particularly favorable.
